Technique Page
The first 2-3 weeks we will mainly be focusing on the freestyle. Below are some of the drills and techniques we will be trying to grasp. I am learning how to put our own videos up so that you will be able to see how you are doing and to add some drills that may be unique to our club.
We will be stressing streamlines a lot. Below are some tips on how to do a Super Tight Streamline. Every time you leave the wall you should think about being streamlined like the photo shows. This should and will become a good habit if you work at it.

Freestyle Drill: This drill should look familiar. Done for different reasons, but watching this video will help you understand what you are trying to do. Click the link to see video.
The Catch: After getting a good reach it is necessary to get a good grip (catch) on the water. Without a solid catch you will slip through the water and your body won't go as far as it should with each arm pull. Below is a picture of this part of the stroke. Notice how the elbow begins to bend early in the stroke.
